Name Da Ly Express
Constructed 1974 hull number 125 of around 135 built by Camper &Nicholson Ltd, Gosport, UK. Dimensions: L x W x D: 11.53 x 3.50 x 1.58
General: In 2005 purchased in St. Maarten, sailed in the Caribbean, in 2006 much reconditioned and new instruments. In summer 2006 sailed on my own to Florida and through the intra coastal waterway to Chesapeake Bay where he was stored for 3 years on land and where a new engine was installed. In 2009 sailed to the Azores (Paid VAT) and sailed to The Netherlands. In the last 4 years the boat was stored inside, the outside was repainted and inside many renovations . I understood that it has crossed the Atlantic a number of times before I purchased the boat and that it has received its anti-osmosis treatment (I have never ascertained any sign of blisters.
It has a self-steering wind vane (Hydrovane) which sails the boat well in all conditions and on all courses, 2 electric auto pilots for motoring (one on the steering wheel, a new one directly on the hydrovane rudder ), interconnected log, depth and wind meter with repeater inside, new VHF (2015) withGPS en AIS receiver, second VHF antennae in mizzen, portable VHF, plotter/radar with separate GPS antennae, in 2015 ge-update maps West Europa and (western) Baltic Sea, separate GPS receiver.
New, strong and very smooth running diesel engine: Volvo Penta D55 (55 HP) with new transmission (2007) , with around 350 hours, new shaft (2006), new propeller (2015). Main fuel tank SS diesel 170 litre, second tank 114 litre.
Drinking water 340 litre, spare tank 134 liter (not used)
Used sails in good condition: main, 3 head sails genoa, jib and storm jib, 2 mizzen sails, mizzen stay sail. New and heavier rigging (2009). 2 spinnaker poles.
Compass Sestrel Moore, wiper, SS bathing ladder, 2 electric bilge pumps + 1 manual, starboard and port line running from fore to aft
Life raft in container 6 persons from 2006, EPIRB works but battaery needs replacement.
Anchor winch installed in 2006 with separate up and down buttons near winch also button near steering wheel. Anchor, type Bruce (2006) 30 kgs with around 60 meters chain(2006); second chain with second heavy anchor type Danfort, long trolling line with several drogues.
Electricity: Start battery 100 AH (2015), House battery 220 AH (2009), three-stage battery charger (220/110 V) for the 2 separate systems, on the engine a heavy charger (110 A??). solar panel on cockpit roof. LED lighting inside partly (white/red). 3 color sailing/anchor light, separate navigation ligts, steam and sternlight, deck light and “tractor” deck light in mizzen and second anchor light in mizzen. Electricity is in working condition, partly new wiring and panel.
Galley: new working top and cupboards, fridge is now installed in a box and works very nice, new cooker with oven(2006); new gas piping installed in 2015.
Toilet and shower; water pressure system; (small) second toilet in aft cabin which is no longer used as toilet bowl is removed;
New upholstery ( 2006).
Valves and seacocks largely newly installed in 2006; outside repainted in last years. Windows starboard re-installed in 2006; windows port side and aft new in 2015.
This Nicholson is technically in a very good condition; the inside could do with some work
