Stroma Pilot

E Capoe is in a fair state and has suffer neglect for quite a few years in the Carribean with a number of shareholders I guess.  She requires about 50% of the interior woodwork replaced. There are no headlinings throughout.  The saloon is probably the worst affected with rotten timber having being discarded when the previous owner embarkrd on restoration with no evidence of the settee and table bar a silhouette on the sole..  The chart table remains with hardly anything on the bulkhead.  The galley area has the remains of a sink and worktop and a space for a new cooker between the cold locker and seperating bulkhead of the port side lockers and settee (frame still intact).  After romoving some windows to be resealed the covering temporary plastic sheeting blew in and the subsequent onslaught of rainwater and pigeon squatters has taken its toll. The yard drilled a few holes in the hull to control further rainwater ingress but unfortunately not before the starter motor and half the Perkind M80T spent some time underwater.  The hull suffered additional pressure on the Sbd Fwd cradle pad and suffered a crack opposite the Fwd bulkhead in the saloon.  The upside is that recomended work from the surveyor has mostly been completed.  Some osmosis had been detected and the hull was ground back and lavished with a fresh skin yet to be epoxied and antifouled.  New seacocks and skin fittings throughout. The topside Red has faded badly.  The toe rail had been replaces with a thin layer of wood strip with some what can only be described as some sort of houshold plastic facia board sandwiched between the wood and the hull. There is a lot of work ahead but given time and lots of £££’s I am confident Hull 33 will sail again with the makeover that she deserves.  My priority now is to get her home to Orkney where she can be easily accessed to carry out the necesary work.  So far I’ve read a few inspiring stories with older and perhaps just as bad or worse condition Nic 38s than mine and from a greater distance. I am already overwhelmed at the offer of help from member who I dont know and can only extend my humbling gratitude to you all at this time.  On an optimistic note you are all welcome on board for a sundowner thank you any time you see E Capoe(I’ll probably change the name and keep you all posted) around in the future.
