Hi Stephen
Yes the hard cockpit roof is removable and there are stowage, for want of a better word, “brackets” on the coach roof just forward of the windscreen, to take the roof when not in use.
I have sailed Jean Clair single handed for the some time now, although we have roller reefing foresail and in mast reefing main with lines led to the cockpit beneath the windscreen which obviously helps. As with all singlehanded sailing its early preparation that makes for an easy life.

We have a reserve fuel tank on Jean Clair and have used it for the
eight years we have owned her. The two tanks are connected, not only by the 1 inch feed pipe with the wheel valve but also by a 15mm breather pipe which obviously exits from the top of both tanks. This 15mm pipe goes from the main tank to a position just under deck level before descending into the reserve tank. We always ensure there is enough space in the main tank so that we can empty the reserve into it without worrying about overfilling. We always close the wheel valve after transfer to ensure we do not fill the main tank through the reserve. Hope that helps

forgot to say that the head is 20cm tall and the flat face is 12.5cm wide.Kind Regards
AlanAugust 4, 2013 at 14:57 #13931Jean ClairParticipantHi Bob,
My beaching legs are made from 10cm diameter aluminium extrusion with cast aluminium foot and head. The foot is 22cm square with 4 triangular flanges on each corner to support the 10cm deep socket for the tube. The head
as you can tell from the photo has a flat face which fits flush
to the hull side (a rubber mat/washer seperates the head from the hull)
The bolt hole is centraly positioned 5cm from the top.The overall length of the feet is 230cm.
Hope that helps if you require any further info please
let me know.Kind Regards

On Jean Clair we use a shower curtain which covers the toilet and
above basin storage cupboard. Its held in place by wedging a table fiddle in the wooden hand grip beneath the window. Also by small piece of ducktape above the toilet. When finished take down and hang out to dry. Works a treat.Kind Regards

Like Ronar M we also had a unsafe system on Jean Clair. We also
removed the heater and installed a calorifier port side of the engine.
Works a treat and also has an electrical heating element so can heat the water when connected to shore power. Regards AlanJanuary 5, 2013 at 21:52 #12811Jean ClairParticipantDitto, we hope to see you on the 18th

Thanks for the response, am thinking along the same lines as Ronar M’s fitting. Trevor could you just let me know where you exit
the box with your 8mm gas pipe. I am thinking that it would not be
through the bottom of the box due to possible leak back into the boat??Regards
Alan & PatFebruary 18, 2011 at 17:49 #8701Jean ClairParticipantHi Peter,
Unfortunately the repair was done in Dartmouth whilst we were at work in Yeovil, somerset. Will be down the boat tomorrow and will take
some photos of finished repair to give you some idea of what was done.Regards Alan & Pat
February 17, 2011 at 18:04 #8681Jean ClairParticipantDear All
Jean Clair also suffered from this problem which was pointed out tous by our purchase survey. We had it repaired using a large piece
of stainless on the deck and lots of fibreglass between. As someone
said, the surveyor said that this was a common problem with Nic 38’sRegards
