    Hi cfbreekie,

Thanks for that info. I felt sure that they had to be attached something like that but didn’t want to go ‘ripping’ just in case.

I bought a couple of second hand lewmar ocean hatches on ebay! Hope to fit them in April.

    Hi Jeff,

    That’s good news. The 500 x 500 hatch is the size 60.

Does yours have a vertical flange going down the opening or does it just sit flat on the deck?

    Hi All,

In about 2002 or so, we we thought we had a fire on board as clouds of dense black smoke appeared from the aft cabin. We were motoring at the time.

It turned out that our exhaust pipe was joined by a piece of copper pipe which had corroded through.
We replaced the copper pipe with stainless.
I can’t remember offhand where exactly the join was, but it was in behind or under the aft heads.

It’s worth checking out your exhaust pipe, it may not be continuous.

    Hi Alan,
Thank you very much for the photos and measurements.
    Just a few questions…
To clarify, you say the overall length is 230cm and the hull bolt hole is 5cm from the top, so am I correct in thinking the distance from the bolt hole to the underside of the feet is 225cm?
Do you know what diameter and thread the moulded bolt hole in the hull is?
Have you used these? Did they work ok?
    Kind Regards,
    Rob
