Our interior ceiling lights have glass shades, which are most annoying because they has sharp decorative ribs on them. Quite painful when you hit your head against one. I think I would prefer deteriorated plastic.
Of course, we could change all the fixtures to solve the problem – which may be what you need to do as well. I’ve considering trying to find a replacement shade that would fit the fixture, but it seems a lost cause. New LED fixtures would be quite nice. (Although we have replaced the bulbs in ours already with LEDs).
Perhaps a picture of your lights may get a different response from another forum member.
