‘Morning all,
Has anyone installed their own shower curtain rail in the forward head compartment.? Sea Eagle has never had one so I’ve never used the shower as I don’t want to soak everything in there. I don’t want to drill upwards through the 1mm moulding & into the deck so thinking of a U-shaped 1 inch alloy or St-Steel bar coming off the bulkhead, as wide as possible.
Can anyone post a photo & details of what they have in place.?
Thanks & Regards,

Not heard of anyone with a shower curtain as the head is designed for the shower without one, mine certinly works well without.

April 30, 2013 at 19:17 #13481ModeratorKeymasterWe don’t have a shower curtain rail either, but regularly use the shower when cruising. Our solution is to remove things that would get soaked (e.g. the bog roll and the hand towel), and then when done, we use a small squeegee to wipe down the walls. It works pretty well.
A benefit to water being sprayed about is that it gives me a chance to give the head a good wash down at the same time. While I wait for the hot water to reach the shower, I use the fresh water to clean the bowl as our lavac toilet doesn’t rinse the upper part of the bowl when flushed. So I sort of view it as a feature that there is no shower curtain. Besides, a shower curtain would no doubt go black with mildew in short order as it would be hard to get dried out if it spent most its time secured at the mast.
Despite all this, Van still hopes to install a shower curtain someday because he doesn’t like it that water gets sprayed all about. 8~) He doesn’t have any plans for how to do it.

Has anyone tried using a shower curtain, not on a rail but small suking discs (is it called that in English??) on the deckhead – which is a smooth inner moulding?
Kind regards

On Jean Clair we use a shower curtain which covers the toilet and
above basin storage cupboard. Its held in place by wedging a table fiddle in the wooden hand grip beneath the window. Also by small piece of ducktape above the toilet. When finished take down and hang out to dry. Works a treat.Kind Regards

Thanks for the suggestions-I’ve hung the shower curtain on about x10 30mm wide suction cups & secure the curtain outboard next to the locker door. It drapes nicely behind the towel rail on the bulkhead.
The suction cups work very well & it finishes the head-compartment off nicely. The curtain is 1.80 x 1.80m so someone could shower while seated on the lid of the head if the boat is rolling.November 1, 2018 at 14:14 #26459Jacobus EllisParticipantHi Jeff, could you share a photo please?
November 1, 2018 at 14:17 #26460Jacobus EllisParticipantHi Marilyn, I have a question regarding the shower, on the Svalbard Sun there seems to be a missing rubber boot around the mast foot in the shower cubicle, is this common, or could you share a photo of what the mast foot entering through the shower floor look like in your case?
November 8, 2018 at 06:43 #26477ModeratorKeymasterThere is no boot around the mast in the head on Rainshadow. There is just a cutout in the floor, which the mast passes through.
I’ve never considered that there might be a mast boot missing there. I don’t think there would be anything to seal a boot anyway. We’ve not had a problem with shower water entering the cutout, at least not that I have noticed.
