The two preceding pictures show the osmosis of Blue Idyl 19 years ago there were deep blisters everywhere. To rectify this we had 3mm peeled of the hull , dug out and filled the deep structure blisters which were up to dinner plate size we  filled them with chopped strand then covered the entire under water with 6mm of chopped mat strand using Vinyl Ester resin ( more moisture resistant than Polyester ) and then 7 coats of epoxy. Its all been OK sofar

Thanks for these photos of Blue Idyl, hull #64.

Does the first picture show the hull with the bottom paint stripped? If so, was it obvious the osmosis was so bad when there was bottom paint on the hull?

Rainshadow, hull #126, has a few minor blisters that are visible through the bottom paint. Every yard so far has said “no big deal, leave it.”

The first picture shows the hull after 3mm had been peeled. The different coloured spots are where big blisters had developed further in the laminate. The blisters had at some time been dug and filled with glass fibre we then had dug out some more  In terms of was it obviouse,to someone who knew what they were looking at there were obviouse deformations in the hull shape. The key giveaway is tapping the hull with a ball hammer if there is a large blister the sound and feel change as though you are tapping a drum. At the time I had no clue on the subject so had to learn quickly
