John ArthurParticipantHi Derek. I would be interested in your Neco parts if it looks like I can integrate them with my cable operated system. My boat had a wheel driven device that is not man enough and keeps stripping the drive belt. Could you email some pictures (downindevon@live.com), especially of the drive unit as I think they drive a chain? I imagine you have no idea as to whether it all works or not? Did you remove it and what did you replace it with? Sorry about so many questions, but I have been trying to resolve this without spending a fortune for some time!
Kind regards, John Arthur.October 3, 2015 at 12:09 #25837
VoltairParticipantHello Derek and John – we are just about managing to keep our Neco alive and functioning, and up till recently all the problems have been associated with the drive and gearbox, relays etc. That bit seems to be working fine at present, but now we have an issue with the rheostat (or whatever it is) that is behind the compass setting knob in the middle of the control unit, and I would like to get a replacement for this component if either of you have one available.
Up till now, I have not dismantled our control unit to find out what is giving the probs, but the symptom is that a small movement of the knob can result in a large alteration of course (as if it is dirty contacts behind the knob). So we set it roughly and then use the trim knob for accurate adjustment. However, I suspect it will really die soon and then I won’t have a spare.November 10, 2015 at 10:48 #25850
VoltairParticipantI spoke to Derek yesterday and he told me he had sold all his Neco bits. So, Hello to anyone with a Neco to dispose of, we would still like to get a spare control unit so we can keep our almost-perfectly-working main unit in repair next year.
