Forward starboard seacock under forepeak.

Hi the through hull sea cock foremost starboard under the access panel below the forepeak has been blanked off. Can anyone enlighten me of its function.

The forward-most seacock on the starboard side on Rainshadow is the toilet inlet seacock. This is accessed through the floor board just inside the v-berth cabin. It is very close to the centerline of the hull, adjacent to the wall that separates the toilet from the aisle into the v-berth area. Ours is a 3/4″ Blakes tapered cone seacock. Is this the one you mean?

Further forward, far above the waterline so without a seacock, there is a drain for the forward deck anchor locker.

If neither of those are in the location your describe, then I would guess this must be an after-build installation by a previous owner. Perhaps for a former watermaker, where the PO wanted to collect water before the toilet outlet?

Hi Richard

On RP accessible through the floor board on the port side is the toilet though- hull as described by Marilyn. Now on the starb’d side is the Brookes/Gatehouse ‘speedo’  which looks similar to a through- hull (in which it is).

As I have gone over to Simrad single speed/depth transducer, drilling yet another hole through the hull,  have temporarily (3 years ago) raised the speedo unit and in some future dry-docking will blank off the outboard aperture flush to the hull.

Would this fitting be similar to yours.

Thanks very much to you both for your help.

I thought at first it was a sea cock for the forward heads and that the PO had decided to change the intake location.

I’m more inclined now to think it may have been a Speedo. I think when she’s next out the water I’ll remove the fitting and glass it over.
