Three friends, Tim Purcell, Ruki Heritage, Stuart Vardon  have recently purchased Blue Idyl, hull #64, from Jim Tinsdeall.

Here’s what Tim said when he asked to join:

We’re new to sailing and boating in general (very new!) so we are learning quickly and the forum has been incredibly valuable. I hope we will post ourselves in the near future – likely questions at first but then some pictures of the maintenance and repairs we carry out, starting with the windows and the toe rail

I wonder if we could also record that the original owner of Blue Idyl was Hugh Merewether, who owned the boat from new until 1998 when Jim purchased her. We’re only the third owner of Blue Idyl and are fascinated by her history – Hugh (who unfortunately passed away in 2006) was a former test pilot; we’re hoping his spirit is still with the boat and some of his calmness under pressure will rub off on us when we leave Chichester Harbour!

I checked the owner’s log shared with me by Jeremy Lines (RIP-continuing to be sorely missed). Indeed, he listed Hugh Merewether as the owner from 1970-1995. The second owner was Jim Tinsdeall, and now this group of friends.

Glad to have new sailors join our group. Hope we can be of help as you enjoy Blue Idyl.
