John says Sonatina is on her last gasp, and he’s recently purchased her with the plan to bring her back to life. He says:

I think I know why there is no Camper & Nicholsons ID plate on my boat. It was apparently fitted out in Crosshaven, Ireland and launched in 1981. It is a Nic 38 but not fitted out at one their yards.

He knows the HIN -Jeremy, can you help ID this boat?

Welcome John – we hope our forum can help you with this refurbishment.

Thank you for your welcome Marilyn. I’m not sure if it is the boat or me that I was indicating that were on their “last gasp” but either way we are both OK. We have renamed Sonatina “Blue Skye” and her first task is to take us to Skye on the West coast of Scotland this summer as I was brought up there and learned to sail in Soay harbour 50 years ago. I have had her ashore for the past 3 weeks to carry out urgent work to seacocks and generally make good a general lack of maintenance. We will sail her this summer and start serious refurbishment over the winter lay up period.
I hope to be able to call on the knowledge base of the forum to bring this fine boat back to her former glory.
    Regards, John.
