Just wanted to pass on an idea that we are pleased with – a wall mounted galley faucet, rather than the countertop mounted style. (We actually stole this idea from a photo of another Nic 38 galley). Check out how we did it:

Having the wall mounted faucet leaves more room on the countertop, and gets the water source higher so that its easier to slip tall items under the water flow.

There is room behind the galley bulkhead to run the plumbing. This new faucet is installed on a piece of plywood that is mounted in front of the original galley wall.

This also means we have the original faucet parts and pieces available to anyone who might need a replacement knob, or one of those custom tailpieces. If you still have the original faucet and want some spare parts, let me know and I’ll see if we still have what you need.

The new tap positioning looks good, well done, certainly more welcome room in that area.
Like me you still have the Vaillant water heater, mine is in excellent condition, a piece of history which works very well both in the galley and the heads basin and shower. I had to do some maintenance on mine as it was not lighting properly or staying alight as it should, stripped the regulator down to take a look, the membrane seems stretched so took some photos of everything and sent to the company, they were very helpfull, if not a little surprised, as they informed me it is the first model they made! they were not aware any were still in service. They kindly sent me a packed of membranes, which were from a later model as non avaialble for mine, which needed a small modification to use, just another hole in the edge to fit existing screw positions. If you need a spare membrane let me know.
