In the aft cabin near where the steering gear attaches to the rudder post, there is a rubber grease boot on a knuckle joint. Our rubber boot has failed, so the grease is squishing out and dirt may be getting in. We want to replace this boot. (see photo below). I’ve read that the steering arms are stock Range Rover parts.
Anyone have ideas about how to get a properly sized rubber boot?
Anyone have experience on the task of replacing this boot?

I have heard, as I related in my recent post, that this part is a Land Rover part. I will try to find out for you, though I know you will not be able to buy the rubber boot alone – you will have to get the whole track rod end. Isn’t your lazarette area clean. Did you clean it up especially for the photo? Ronar M has a table in the saloon and we tend to use that for dining rather than the floor of the lazarette.

ps I know from friends in USA and New Zealand that Land Rover parts are much cheaper in the UK.

Another thought. Would Jeremy Lines be able to find out the origin of this part? I can’t get into the protected membership list as I have forgotten the password and lost the piece of paper I wrote it on otherwise I would email him myself.
