Thank you for your patience took a while to get the photos in , this is Blue Idyl  sporting its single mast fractional rig. We have had the boat for exactly twenty years now and when purchased the masts were in a shocking state the main shaped like a banana and the mizzen with a lump of wood in the middle but she made it back to the uk. The dilemma of two shot masts and a very shallow pocket  we made two timber eight section hollow masts out of redwood and it cost about £400 all in. The timber masts were excellent but the chore of varnishing was gargantuan along with the weight tended to make her loll in a seaway unless the main was up. My now hatred of varnishing we started to look for secondhand masts and this one came up at a reasonable price with some second hand sales also purchased and altered we will see how the season goes, sofar been fast and very well balanced which has surprised me from working on educated guess work. I am sure this will not meet everyone’s approval but at any stage two masts can be refitted

    Regards Jim
